In October of 2004 Elizabeth T. Campbell came across an already beautiful tract of land in central Kentucky and decided to turn it into something magical. Thus was born the Center for Courageous Kids (CCK), a camp offering year-round activities like swimming, dancing, rock-climbing, and horseback riding to chronically and terminally ill kids. It’s like an all-inclusive Make-A-Wish camp.
At no cost to the families, CCK welcomes and adventurously entertains children who cannot attend traditional camps. So CCK relies on monetary and in-kind donations in order to provide their invaluable services and stunning facilities. When Craig Thomason passed away in 2007, his awesome band of brothers (and sisters) coordinated with CCK to turn the profits of Craig’s benefit fundraisers into a symphony’s-worth of instruments and equipment for the kid’s music center. This month, CCK has entered into Clorox brand’s Power For a Bright Future grants for kids program, and hopes to recieve a $10,000 grant to expand its operations. They’re looking for votes!
Check out the Center for Courageous Kids website, then hit up the Power For a Bright Future contest page. Link it on your Facebook page to spread the word!
Thanks to the lovely Lee Gentry for posting this on her facebook, and for always channeling Craigy T’s inspiration!
“Sometimes in our lives we can feel low & the path can be cloudy, if we just trust and have faith in our hopes, one day they will all come true. Then we can see and put our love in our hearts and let it spread through and through … ” -CMT
